Michelle Gann and Rhett Rumfelt Perform With The Junior High All-District Band

Michelle Gann, 8th grade trumpet, and Rhett Rumfelt, 7th grade trumpet, recently had the opportunity to perform with the Junior High All-District Band in Marshfield, Missouri.

Michelle performed in the 8th grade honor band under the direction of Herman Byrd. The 8th grade honor band performed a variety of music including "A Childhood Hymn," Fanfare Prelude on 'Ode To Joy'," and The Tempest.

Rhett performed in the 7th grade honor band under the direction of Linda Wegmann. The 7th grade honor band also performed a varied program including "Courage" and the crowd favorite "Swahili Folk Hymn."

Students participating in the JH All-District Band also had the treat of hearing the HS All-District Jazz Band perform under the direction of Dr. Tina Claussen. At the end of the program, students from the All-District Jazz Band broke out into an impromptu "jam session" as the crowd was leaving.

Adam Chilcote Performs In The High School All-District Band

Adam Chilcote, senior percussionist, recently performed in the High School All-District Band in Bolivar, Missouri. After a full day's rehearsal with top notch clinician, Diana Williams from Webb City, students from across the South Central district performed in front of a packed house on the Southwest Baptist University campus. Adam will have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Band in Columbia on Saturday, December 6, 2008.

"This has been such an incredible opportunity for Adam." said band director David Taylor. "Adam is a very talented student who works hard and he certainly deserves this honor. Adam is the first student in many years to make the All-District Band from Conway and we are all very proud of him."
